How to Create, view & edit bookmarks in Google Chrome

Bookmarks in Google Chrome save a link to a website you want to return to later, much like when you put a bookmark in a book. Here are several ways you can create, view, and edit your Bookmarks.

Let Chrome remember your favorite and frequently visited websites.

When you sync to Chrome,  you’ll get your bookmarks, passwords, and more on all your devices.

On Computer Add a bookmarks in Chrome

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to the site you want to visit again in the future.
  3. To the right of the address bar, click Star Bookmark this page.

Find a bookmark

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks.
  3. Find and click a bookmark.

Tip: You can open bookmarks faster with the bookmarks bar. You’ll find your bookmarks under the address bar. Click a bookmark to open it. 

To turn the bookmarks bar on or off, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Show Bookmarks Bar.

Edit a bookmark

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. To the right of a bookmark, click the Down arrow Down arrowand then Edit.

Delete a bookmark

Important: After you delete a bookmark, you can’t get it back.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. To the right of a bookmark, click the Down arrow Down arrowand then Delete.

Organize your bookmarks

Move your bookmarks into a folder

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. Drag a bookmark up or down, or drag a bookmark into a folder on the left. You can also copy and paste your bookmarks in the order you want.

If you use the bookmarks bar, you can drag your bookmarks into the order you want.

Put your bookmarks in folders

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. At the top right, click More Moreand then Add new folder.

If you use the bookmarks bar, you can add a folder by right-clicking the bookmarks bar. Click Add Folder.

Alphabetize your bookmarks

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. At the top right, click More Moreand then Sort by name.

Find a lost bookmark

Deleted bookmarks can’t be recovered. If your bookmark is missing for another reason, try the tips below.

Step 1: Sign in to Chrome

If you synced your bookmarks to your Google Account, make sure you’re signed in to Chrome:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. In the top right, click the name or People People.
  3. Click Sign in to Chrome.
  4. Sign in with your Google Account where you saved the bookmark.

Step 2: Show the bookmarks bar

If you usually use the bookmarks bar, make sure it isn’t hidden:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Show Bookmarks Bar.

Step 3: Check your bookmark folders

New bookmarks are saved to the last bookmark folder where you saved a bookmark. Check all your bookmark folders:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Moreand then Bookmarks  Bookmark Manager.
  3. On the left, open each folder and look for your bookmark.

On Android Add a bookmark

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Go to a site you want to visit again in the future.
  3. To the right of the address bar, tap More More and then Star Star.

Open a bookmark

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More More and then Bookmarks.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. Tap Star Star.
  3. Find and tap a bookmark.

Edit a bookmark

To the right of a bookmark, tap More More and then Edit.

Delete a bookmark

Important: After you delete a bookmark, you can’t get it back.

To the right of a bookmark, tap More More and then Delete.

Move a bookmark to a different folder

  1. To the right of a bookmark, tap More More and then Move.
  2. Tap the folder where you want the bookmark.

Rearrange your bookmarks

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More More and then Bookmarks.
  3. Touch and hold the bookmark that you want to move.
  4. Drag the bookmark up or down.

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More More and then Bookmarks.
  3. Tap the bookmark you want to move into a new folder.
  4. Tap More and then Moveand thenCreate a new folder.

Find a lost bookmark

Deleted bookmarks can’t be recovered. If your bookmark is missing for another reason, try the tips below.

Step 1: Sign in to Chrome

If you synced your bookmarks to your Google Account, make sure you’re signed in to Chrome:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then Settings  Sign in to Chrome.
  3. Tap the account where you saved the bookmark.
  4. Tap Continue  OK, Got it.

Step 2: Check your bookmark folders

New bookmarks are saved to the “Mobile Bookmarks” folder. To check all your bookmark folders:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. At the top right, tap More More and then Bookmarks.
    • If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. Tap Star Star.
  3. If you’re in a folder, at the top left, tap Back Back.
  4. Open each folder and look for your bookmark.

On iPhone & iPad Add a bookmark

  1. Open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Go to a site you want to visit again in the future.
  3. Tap More More and then Bookmark Bookmark.

Open a bookmark

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2. Tap More More and then BookmarksBookmarks.
  3. Find and tap a bookmark.
    • To open in a new tab or Incognito tab, touch and hold the bookmark.

If you can’t find the bookmark you want, it might be in a different folder. To change folders, at the top left, tap Back Back. Tap the folder with the bookmark you want.

Edit a bookmark

  1. Touch and hold a bookmark.
  2. Tap Edit Bookmark.
  3. Change the name, folder, or URL.
  4. At the top, tap Done.

Delete a bookmark

After you delete a bookmark, you can’t get it back.

  • To delete one bookmark, swipe left, and then tap Delete.
  • To delete two or more bookmarks, at the bottom, tap Select. Tap the bookmarks you want to delete and then Delete.

Create a folder

  1. Open the Chrome app Chrome.
  2.  Tap More More and then Bookmarks Bookmarks and then Select a folder. 
  3. In the bottom left corner, select New Folder.

Rearrange bookmarks inside a folder

  1. At the bottom, tap Select.
  2. To the right of a bookmark, touch and hold Drag Drag.
  3. Drag the bookmark where you want it.

Move a bookmark to a different folder

  1. Touch and hold a bookmark. Tap Edit Bookmark.
  2. Next to “Folder,” tap Choose Folder Choose folder.
  3. Tap the folder where you want the bookmark.

To move two or more bookmarks:

  1. At the bottom, tap Select.
  2. Select the bookmarks.
  3. At the bottom, tap More and then Move. 
  4. Tap the folder where you want the bookmarks.
